Puppy Boom in Wake of Katrina

Animal welfare officials working in the Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast have noted an alarming spike in the number of puppies being born. When residents fled the region, many were forced to leave their pets behind, and many surviving pets that weren’t rescued have been breeding rapidly. The puppy boom is straining already overstretched resources, and new animals arrive daily. Says one animal control officer, “I’ve never seen so many puppies in my life.” (for more follow the link below)
